ALL AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS FINISH AT 4.20,

PLEASE BE ON TIME TO COLLECT YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN.

We are now running more clubs than ever before which was an area that was highlighted in a recent parental questionnaire. There follows some information about a small selection of the clubs we are currently running.

Art and Craft (Year 1 and 2)

Every Monday after school Mrs Meredith and Mrs Hauland run an Art and Craft club. At this club the children are given opportunities to develop their artistic and creative skills using a wide range of media including paint, chalk and pastels with a range of materials like card, paper and wool. Where possible, the children create artwork around a theme which might include: Easter, Summer or St. David’s Day. The children have already enjoyed creating 2D chicks and 3D ladybirds.

Healthy Eating and Cooking (KS1 and KS2)

The Key Stage 2 club is held on a Tuesday and the Key Stage 1 club is held on a Thursday – they are both held after school. The intention of this club is to educate our children into making healthier food choices in their everyday lives. The children have enjoyed making a range of healthy meals and snacks, including breakfasts, lunches and even puddings! They have also found out about the sugar content in different foods and have learnt how to look at food packaging to find out what the food they eat is made of.

Storyland (Year 1 and 2)

This club is held on a Wednesday after school and has a book focus, including both fiction and non-fiction books. Within fiction, the children look at a particular book and read and listen to different versions of the same story. They are then encouraged to sequence the story and also discuss how the story differs and how it is similar. Recently the children have read the Little Red Hen and the Gingerbread Man, which has led to them even decorating their own gingerbread people!
