Early Birds:

A massive congratulations to 5SR who won our Early Bird Week competition in the week ending Friday 14th September. They won because out of the whole week, EVERY child was in before 9:00am. A fantastic achievement and they will be enjoying their tasty treats soon. A massive thank you to everyone who took part and hopefully the good work of coming into school early can carry on.

Attendance:

At Moat House we are constantly looking for ways to decrease the number of times children are late for school and increase attendance. With that in mind, this year we will be continuing with the current attendance reward scheme (for Year 1 – Year 6) by giving every class that achieves 97% and above £1 each week and £5 if they achieve 100%. However, to bring down the number of times children are persistently late there will be a brand new scheme. From now on, if a class achieves 100% attendance, the £5 reward will only be paid if every child has also been in on time. For the punctuality reward, classes can earn extra money for every child that comes in on time. If your class has 100% punctuality for the week, they will achieve £1. The children were very excited about this when Mr McIlroy introduced this on Wednesday and they are looking forward to finding out how their class with its own unique name performs in the coming weeks. Please can you support us by ensuring that children have good morning routines to enable them to arrive at school on time. Thank you. The class team names are as follows:

1EW – Wilson’s Whizzes

1SP – Perfect Pains

2KG –Great Gallivans

2JL – Sparkling Star-Lings

3SH – Hall’s Always In

3SP – Purewal Panthers

4HT – Real HT

4NL – Fantastic Four

5SG – The Fabulous Five

5SR – Rubidge Rangers

6CB – Chelsix FC

6JK – Kelly’s Heroes

Attendance:

Although we haven’t hit our aspirational target of 97% this year for attendance (for 2017 – 2018) we are still very pleased with the overall final figure of 95.4% (nationally 96% is expected). We would like to say a huge thank you for all your support in achieving this. This week, classes have enjoyed spending their attendance winnings on treats – every week they were able to earn £1 for attendance figures of 97% and above and £5 for achieving 100%. The final amount of money won by each class is as follows – well done to 6CB, who have had the best attendance this year and therefore won the most money!

Early Bird Week:

A massive congratulations to 4LF who won our Early Bird Week competition, in the week beginning 23rd April. They won because out of the whole week, they only had two children that missed one day each. A fantastic achievement and they will be enjoying their tasty treats shortly. A massive thank you to everyone who took part and hopefully the good work of coming into school early can carry on.

Early Bird Week:

We were impressed with the extra special efforts that children and parents made to get into school bright and early for our Early Bird Week in the week beginning 23rd April. It definitely made an impact on the overall attendance for that week. Now that the good habits are in place, it would be fantastic if the improved punctuality and attendance could continue. Thank you.

Attendance:

First of all, I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody regarding attendance. Currently the school sit on a total of 97% attendance for the whole school, the highest in over 3 years. In the week ending 20th October, there were ten classes, who earnt money through our attendance challenge, which is a fantastic achievement. Please keep up the excellent attendance habits for the new half term.

To add even more excitement to the challenge, each class has chosen their own unique name. The names are as follows and are displayed in the hall, where attendance news is announced every Wednesday by Mr McIlroy.

Early Bird Winners:

In the week ending Friday 27th January we held our Early Bird Week and the children really enjoyed the challenge. As it was such a success we will be holding another Early Bird Week soon, stay tuned.

Holidays in Term Time:

Can I remind you that I am not legally allowed to give children time off during term time to go on holiday.  This was a decision made by the Government a few years ago. At this time of the year many families are planning their holidays for Easter or the Summer.

Can you please check our holiday dates when booking them. Thank you.

Early Bird Week:

The week beginning Monday 23rd January sees the start of our Early Bird Week. This is a chance for your child’s class to earn some tasty treats. All they have to do is come into school before 9:00 am to earn a sticker. The class with the best overall percentage of children earning stickers will win the tasty treats. This is open for Reception to Year 6. Good luck!!!

Attendance:

We would like to say a big thank you to all parents regarding punctuality. There has been a significant increase in children attending school on time. Just to remind you that classroom doors open at 8:50am and close at 9:00am. If your child is absent from school, please could you phone the office before 9:00. Thank you.

Attendance:

This year’s attendance reward scheme is similar to last year’s apart from a few minor changes. Instead of only two classes being able to win money each week, every class will be able to win money if they achieve the figures as follows for attendance for the previous week; so, any class achieving 97% to 99.99% attendance will earn £1.00 and any class achieving 100% will earn £5.00. As well as this, the 100% challenge for individual children will continue this year. This is called the “Are You In” challenge and every child that is in school every day for the half term will be a winner. Last term over 150 children watched a movie in the hall and had a great time.

Attendance Reward:

On Thursday 23rd June, a grand total of 149 children were allowed to enjoy an attendance reward of watching the Lego movie and enjoying a drink and a snack. This was because they had all achieved 100% attendance during the first part of the Summer term. Well done children!!

We are on track for improved attendance this year, which we are delighted with and hope that you can continue to support us by ensuring that your children are in school and on time every day. As we are keen to reward all of our children who attend school 100% of the time, at the end of this term the treat of enjoying a movie afternoon at school will be given to all children who achieve this target – an even bigger incentive to be in school!

Attendance Reward:

Last term’s attendance reward was for twelve children with amazing attendance to enjoy a movie and popcorn afternoon in school, on Thursday 17th March. One lucky child from every class was picked out of a hat and they watched the movie “Up” while enjoying various little treats including popcorn, squash and crisps. The lucky children selected were: Skye (1JS), Peter (1JG), Avram (2ET), Richard (2CB), Yagouba (3DG), Amida (3ZT), Aboubakar (4KG), Ti-Ann (4SG), William (5HT), Ayomide (5NL), Szymon (6JK) and Kia (6SH). All of the children enjoyed themselves and agreed that we should do it again! Watch this space.

Attendance Reward:

On Wednesday 24th February, we held a draw for our latest attendance reward. Any child that achieved 100% attendance last term was entered into the draw. Twelve lucky children had their names pulled out of a hat and will be enjoying an afternoon of popcorn and a movie in the next couple of weeks. The children are: 1JG – Peter, 1JS – Skye, 2ET – Avram, 2CB – Richard, 3DG – Yagouba, 3ZT – Amida, 4KG – Aboubakar, 4SG – Ti-Ann, 5HT – William, 5NL – Ayomide, 6JK – Szymon, 6SH – Kia.

Attendance Reward:

On Wednesday 13th January, six lucky children were rewarded with a trip to the local bowling alley where they were treated to a meal followed by ten pin bowling. Everyone had great fun bowling and they loved the food. The children won the reward because they were in school for 100% during the Autumn term and their names were then pulled out of a hat. The new attendance prize will be a movie afternoon with popcorn - good luck everyone!!!

Attendance Reward:

In the week before half term, one very lucky child, Ahmad Khatib from 2ET, was randomly selected from all of the children who had achieved 100% attendance since September. He had a fantastic afternoon on 22nd October and went to Toys R Us with Mr McIlroy and Mrs Dolden. He was able to choose from a range of toys and after much deliberation he decided on an Iron Man toy and a Minions figure. The “Are You In?” challenge has started again for the new half term but this time there will be six lucky children selected and they will be treated to an afternoon of bowling with a meal. As long as you are in school every day, you will remain in the hat and will be in with a chance of going on this exciting trip, in December.

Attendance: We have had a fantastic start to the year regarding attendance. As of 18th September we were 96.7%, this is up 1.2% from last year. Lates have also slightly improved. There have been 132 so far this year, last year there had been 135 at this stage. Just a quick reminder that the classroom doors open at 8:50 and close promptly at 9:00. Any child arriving after 9:00 will be classed as late.

Attendance: Last year our attendance was 94.5% overall for the whole year. Our Learning Mentor, Mr McIlroy, who is the attendance lead, has introduced some exciting new initiatives this year to help encourage every child to come into school every day. Any class that gets more than 96% attendance in a week will be given the chance to earn money for their class, so it will not always be the top two classes.
